In order to reduce risk for Covid 19 spread, TRIO Programs is provding all services virtually Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM. Our office is only open to the public Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10AM to 3PM. No more than 3 visitors will be allowed in the office space at any given time. You can schedule an appointment to meet with your advisor by visiting our appointment page here, or by calling our main office line at 801/581.7188. The Federal TRIO Programs are outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide academic success services to qualified individuals.  


Student Support Services

for Undergraduate Students

Student Support Services (SSS) is a TRIO program for current or incoming university students who need academic assistance and other services to be successful at the University. The project provides advising, instruction, tutoring and informational workshops for eligible students.


Upward Bound

for High School Students

Upward Bound is a college preparation program for high school students from low income famlies or who are potential first generation college students.


About TRIO

The University of Utah currently operates 2 federally funded programs, Upward Bound (UB), for high school students and Student Support Services (SSS) for college students.

Upward Bound

Upward bound is a college prep program for first generation and/or students who qualify as low income. Students must also attend one of the four contracted schools: East, Highland, Kearns or West high. For more information, call 801-581-7188
